Hearing Health & Technology Matters (HHTM), an online resource for hearing professionals and consumers with hearing loss, has today revealed the winners of its fifth annual Hearing Technology Innovator Awards™. Through this esteemed awards programme, HHTM continues to honour innovation and excellence in hearing technology across the industry.

This year’s competition attracted submissions from a diverse range of pioneering companies worldwide, including emerging startups and established industry leaders.

The winners will be recognised this week during the Academy of Doctors of Audiology (ADA) annual conference.

“HHTM’s Innovator Awards will once again be presented at the ADA Audacity 2024 conference. Each year, we see stronger innovation, improved user experiences, and more patient-centred solutions. It’s truly inspiring to see how these advancements are shaping the future of hearing healthcare and enhancing patient care,” said Amyn M Amlani, PhD, ADA President-Elect.

“The breadth of innovation, creativity, and inspiration showcased in this year's awards programme is truly remarkable," commented Dr Robert Traynor, a member of the 2024 Awards Judge’s Panel.

“Stop The Ring is a public charity advocating for the establishment of a Tinnitus Learning Health Network (TLHN). We are dedicated to scaling this scientifically validated framework to create a standard of care for tinnitus patients," said Jeffery Reagan, Founder of Stop The Ring, one of the hearing charities supported by this year's programme proceeds. "We are incredibly grateful to the Hearing Technology Innovator Awards for helping bring attention to organisations that are making an impact in hearing health."

Innovator of the Year: Interacoustics

This year’s Innovator of the Year title has been awarded to Interacoustics for its groundbreaking Audible Contrast Threshold (ACT™) test.

The company received the highest votes from an international panel of independent judges, based on the following criteria:

  • Innovation – Technology that represents novel thinking in addressing habilitation of acquired hearing loss, its treatment and delivery.
  • Effectiveness - Technological advances that best address limitations of previous generations of technology
  • Efficiency – Advances that best close the distance between hearing care and the end-user
  • Utility – Innovation that promotes greater ease of use by the end-user and/or practitioner

“Conversation in noise remains the number one problem for users of hearing devices. A language-independent test that optimises device programming for noisy situations is an innovation that will improve the listening experience for many,” said Andrew Bellavia, founder of Aurafuturity and member of the 2024 Awards Judge's Panel. “Congratulations to Interacoustics on this well-deserved recognition."
