In a significant shift for the field of hearing care, Demant has announced the closure of the Ida Institute. On 8 October, the Denmark-based hearing healthcare giant has confirmed that future developments in person-centred care will be led directly by its hearing aid brands, marking the end of the standalone Ida Institute and its associated learning platform, Ida Learning Hall.

This move aligns with Demant’s ongoing commitment to placing user-centred care at the core of its offerings. By embedding these principles directly into their hearing aid products, the company aims to further support hearing care professionals in providing a person-centred approach throughout the patient’s hearing journey.

The Ida Institute has played a pivotal role in advancing person-centred care in hearing healthcare, offering critical resources to clinicians around the world. While the institute's closure marks the end of an era, Demant remains committed to continuing its legacy within a new framework. The company says: “We are grateful for the big and long-standing efforts of the Ida Institute, its employees, and the many partners to bring person-centered care to the field of hearing care. The work of the Institute has been instrumental in ensuring that clinicians have best practice available and that people with hearing loss receive the best possible care for their hearing needs. We are looking forward to continuing the journey under the new setup.”
