Our congratulations to Dr Héctor Enrique Ruiz, ENT & Audiology News’ Global Ambassador for South America and Past President of the Panamerican Association of ENT-HNS, who has been designated an Honorary Member of the Spanish Society of Otorhinolaryngology. Dr Ruiz was invited to open the 75th National Congress of the SEORL-CCC in Malaga by the President, Professor Manuel Bernal Sprekelsen.

“Being the first Argentine to have this honour, I thank SEORL for voting for me and inaugurating the Congress with a Keynote Conference, which fills me with pride,” says Dr Ruiz. “The conference topic was hearing loss in the elderly, which is vital to raise awareness about as it’s linked to isolation and depression that could be avoided, and this group is most often forgotten in campaigns.
“The Congress took place in Malaga, the city where Pablo Picasso was born, and the most special thing was visiting the Automobile and Fashion Museum with excellent vintage cars in perfect condition, combined with fashions of the time!”

Dr Ruiz reports back from the Malaga Congress: 120 national and international speakers participated in conferences, workshops and round tables, with more than 964 papers, 244 oral communications, 58 video communications, 5 research forums, 748 courses.
