ENT & Audiology News is truly part of a global family of ENT surgeons and audiologists, and I am always struck at the sheer breadth of nations that is represented on our platfoms. So it is a particular pleasure that for May/Jun we look at the World Health Organization’s World Report on Hearing, and more widely at otology and hearing issues around the world. The articles from all corners of the globe have been brought together by Mahmood Bhutta (UK) and Jackie Clark (USA). You can read their introduction here, and Shelly Chadha’s fascinating exploration of the WHO report here.
Ear surgery seems to move at an astonishing pace, and we hear from Seiji Kakehata in an interview conducted by Tatsuya Yamasoba. Prof Kakehata is leading the 4th World Congress on Endoscopic Ear Surgery in Kyoto in 2022, so this is a good time to be looking ahead to the conference.
The world of apps in ENT is growing rapidly, and in our Tech Reviews, Jonathan Lee reviews the ORL App, developed in Germany by Prof Jan-Christoffer Lüers. There are lots of useful functions, and we are particularly pleased that the app links you to the ENT & Audiology News digital issues!
We have some changes to announce in the team here at ENTAN HQ: our Newsround Editor, Emma Stapleton, is now joined by Keiran Joseph (Clinical Lead, Evelina London, Children & Young People’s Audiology Centre, Guy’s & St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, UK), who replaces Neil Summerfield as our Newsround Editor. We welcome Keiran and look forward to hearing news from the world of audiology.
Finally, entries for our writing competition closed a few weeks ago, and we have had a significant number of entrants! Our judging panel, chaired by Lucy Dalton, will be evaluating all of the entries, and we will report back in a few weeks about the winner.
