If you were a gastroenterologist or an ankle surgeon, you might have imagined that it would be difficult to conjure up a whole magazine-full of fascinating articles about the outer ear. But that would be to overlook the brilliant and imaginative skills of Emma Stapleton and Priya Carling.
As a laryngologist, I pride myself on focusing on the intricacies of a few cubic centimetres of the body; equally, the small volume of the ear canal and pinna are supremely interesting when looked at in detail. You can read more about their articles here.
Elsewhere for Mar/Apr 2022, in our Tech Reviews section, Jonathan Lee gives us a brilliant overview of useful apps for the busy ENT surgeon on call. We can all learn as we go through our careers… I think I might download one or two of these apps myself.

Finally, we were immensely disappointed to hear from our friend, Brian Westerberg, that IFOS 2022, which was scheduled to take place in Vancouver in June, has been cancelled. Prof Westerberg and his team had put a huge amount of work into the meeting, and we share his disappointment: the international situation with regards to COVID remains as fluid as it is frustrating. The meeting will now be held in Dubai from 16-21 January 2023. More information will follow from us in the coming months.
