On 17 May 2019 the ENT conference with international participation – ‘Updates in the diagnosis and treatment of otorhinolaryngological diseases’ took place. The conference was organised by the Scientific Practical Association of Otorhinolaryngologists from Republic of Moldova and the ENT clinic of the Republican Clinical Hospital of Moldova, represented by Professor Dr Alexandru Sandul, Head of the ENT clinic.

The bilateral collaboration between the ENT department of First Pavlov State Medical University of Saint Petersburg and Nicolae Testemițanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy from Chisinau gave birth to this scientific meeting. The invited guests of the conference were Professor Dr Sergey Karpischenko, Professor Dr Marina Ryabova, Dr Olga Verescheagina, Dr Mihail Ulupov, Dr Elizaveta Bolozneva and Dr Svetlana Baranskaya, from ENT Department of First Pavlov State Medical University of Saint Petersburg, Russia.
The conference programme was an expanded one including important themes regarding functional endoscopic sinus surgery, fungal rhinosinusitis, cellular therapy in chronic and recurrent rhinosinusitis, utility of laser surgery in laryngeal cancer, minimal invasive endoscopic treatment of laryngotracheal stenosis, acoustic neurinoma, contemporary approach for diagnostic and treatment of vertigo as being ones of the most important domains in the ENT specialty of our country.

ENT specialty is a priority of the medical system in Moldova and this scientific meeting offered the participants the opportunity to identify solutions and well-defined steps in the diagnosis and treatment of the ear, nose and throat pathologies. Understanding the different approaches of our colleagues would always give us the possibility of scientific and clinical development, regarding different points of view of the same pathology and the need to help our patients.
