At the joint autumn meeting between BOARS and ENT UK, the programme included UK and international research, audit and educational project presentations. The BOARS morning session chaired by Professor Philpott comprised 11 high-quality research presentations.
The best oral presentation prize was awarded to Haroon Saeed (right) for his PhD research on prognostic factors and data modelling for hearing loss in enlarged vestibular aqueduct (pictured). Professor Kaski, Consultant Neurologist, delivered an insightful keynote speech on dizziness from a neurologist’s view.
The afternoon session started with the Rowena Ryan awards presentations chaired by Taran Tatla (above). The winners included: Laura Burton (Best Trainee-Led Audit), John Hardman (Best Trainee-Led Research), Rohma Abrar (Best SFO Trainee-Led Research), Freddie Green (Best Trainee-Led Teaching), Kenechukwu Igbokwe (Best Overseas Trainee-Led Research or Training) and Michael Mather (Rowena Ryan Paper Knife Award).
The ENT UK and NINHR network awards were announced by Professor Nirmal Kumar and Muzaffar Muzaffar. Professor Paleri received the chief investigator award and delivered an inspirational speech to aspiring researchers. John Hardman received the early career researcher award for championing collaborative research and innovative research in the head and neck cancer field. Fei Long received the research team award.
