Derek Hoare trained in nursing at the University of Brighton and then completed a PhD in neuroscience at University of Manchester, UK. He currently works at the University of Nottingham where he leads a programme of research on tinnitus and hyperacusis, developing assessment tools and low-intensity psychological and self-help interventions. Derek is an Associate Editor of the International Journal of Audiology, and chairs the British Society of Audiology Tinnitus and Hyperacusis Special Interest Group.
